Born in New Ulm on February 4, 1940, Betty graduated from NU High School in 1958, and earned her degree from Augsburg University in 1958. After Bruce’s return from the Peace Corp in Ghana, they married and settled in the western suburbs of Mpls. Following a rewarding career as a Medical Technologist for Mt. Sinai hospital and Park-Nicollet clinics, Betty retired in 2002 to focus on her love of gardening (Master Gardener), her grandchildren, and her lake house near Pine River. She was a strong believer and active member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Plymouth.

Survived by one son, David Bruce, of Hopkins; one daughter, Rebecca Elizabeth (Michael) of Trempealeau, WI; and grandsons James (Ollie) Wittrig and Jacob Wittrig. She also leaves one sister, Shirley; and three generations of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Evans-Nordby Funeral Home in Osseo on August 21, 5-7 p.m., followed by the funeral service at Ascension Lutheran Church in Plymouth on August 22, 12pm viewing and 1 p.m. service. Interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery in New Hope.
