MORGAN–Lennis J. Matter, 81, of Morgan, MN, died on July 16, 2025, at Oak Hills in New Ulm, MN. Visitation will be on Monday, Monday, 21st of July, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN and will continue on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Springfield, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at the St. Raphael Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.

Lennis was born on August 20, 1943, in Springfield, MN, the son of Charles and Ann (Groebner) Matter.

Lennis proudly served in the Navy for four years and was honorably discharged in 1967. He dedicated much of his life to various jobs, including work at Rock Street Bar, Clement Liquor, 3M in New Ulm, Barron’s Fabrication, Glencoe Manufacturing, and seasonally at Del Monte. He loved farming on the Matter Family Farm with his brothers and found great joy working with John Deere tractors, especially the 4020 and 6020 models. Lennis enjoyed a game of cards and cherished the time he spent visiting and meeting new people. He also enjoyed traveling, particularly his adventures in Arizona, where he could soak up the sun and beautiful scenery.

He is survived by his siblings – Delores (Alois) and Ali, Vernon, Mary (Ron) Willhite, Diane (Art) Templin, John (Audrey) Matter, Joann (Mike) Johnston, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death his parents, siblings – Lucille (Al), Dennis (Carol and Shirley), Barb (Milo), and an infant sister.
