HAMEL–Harold Mathiowetz, age 73, of Hamel passed away Friday, June 20, 2025 at his home in Hamel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Burial will be held at a later date in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery – Redwood Falls.

Harold is survived by his siblings, Jerry (Janet) Mathiowetz, Elaine Braun, Ervin Mathiowetz, Jean (Michael) Doan, Rudolph C. (Pam) Mathiowetz; sister-in-law, Lucille Mathiowetz; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph J. & Alma Mathiowetz; and his brother, James Mathiowetz.
Harold Richard Mathiowetz was born September 23, 1951 to Rudolph J. and Alma (Nelson) Mathiowetz in Sleepy Eye. He graduated from St. James High School in 1970 and immediately enlisted in the United States Army. Harold served his country and toured in Vietnam, then began an over 15-year long career with UPS in the Twin Cities. During that time, he furthered his education by attending classes at the University of Minnesota. Harold later changed careers and began delivering newspapers. In his free time, Harold kept busy by helping his neighbors with snow shoveling and maintenance, as well as working to repair or maintain his many cars. He will be dearly missed by those that knew him. Blessed be his memory.
