Florence “Flossie” Halvorson

NEW ULM–Florence “Flossie” Halvorson, age 83, a longtime New Ulm, Minnesota resident, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Azura Memory Care, Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

She was born September 11, 1941 in New Ulm, Minnesota, daughter of the Late Henry and Clara (Zeig) Liesenfeld. Flossie attended school in Sigel Township and was employed for 3M for 33 years. On November 28, 1964 she married Daniel Halvorson at Augustana Lutheran Church, Gibbon, Minnesota. Quilting, crocheting, baking, and lefse making were among her hobbies, and her German potato salad was a popular request at family gatherings. Flossie also enjoyed dancing to old time music.

Flossie is survived by her husband Daniel of 60 years; two daughters: Brenda (Bill) Roberts and Becky (Jeff) Koch; five grandchildren: Eric (Anna), Jena, Megan, Rachel, and Mitchell; five great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Braxton, Kaisley, Theodore, and Henry; one sister: Jane Mueller; and two sisters-in-law: Marlene Halvorson and Jan Liesenfeld. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister: Adeline (Richard); her brother: Willie and his son: Michael; and four brothers-in-law: David, Stanley (Marge), Harlow, and Tom.

Cremation has occurred at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory, Manitowoc, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
