NEW ULM–Jeanette L. Dey, age 89 of New Ulm, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Woodstone Living Center in New Ulm. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – South Chapel in New Ulm. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – South Chapel in New Ulm. Jeanette is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Gordon Dey of New Ulm; daughters Debra Vogel and Diane Dey of New Ulm; son Steve (JoLeen) Dey of Winthrop; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Charlotte Salfer of Wabasso.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel (Larson) Becker; her sisters, Dorothy Hagen and Margie Riederer; and her brothers, Eugene, Christopher, Faye, and John Jr. Becker.
Jeanette was born on November 8, 1935, in Lamberton, Minnesota, and graduated from Springfield High School in 1953. On June 6, 1954, she was united in marriage to Gordon Dey at Sleepy Eye First Methodist Church. Together, they raised their three children in New Ulm.
Jeanette worked for 25 years at Kraft Foods in New Ulm. In her free time, she had a passion for auctions, antiques, gardening, flowers, baking, cooking, thrifting, crocheting, knitting, and dancing. She was a part of the Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and Turner Hall. Jeanette cherished visiting with friends and was always happiest when surrounded by family.
Following her retirement, Jeanette traveled extensively, visiting every U.S. state except Hawaii, and enjoying adventures such as whitewater rafting in Alaska. She also traveled abroad, making cherished memories in England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales to sightsee and visit Gordon’s relatives.
She will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
