Rosalie Elizabeth (Peter) Salonek was born September 13, 1934 at Lake Benton, MN to Emil and Mary (Fath) Peter. Rosalie and her family of 5 sisters and 4 brothers moved often, and finally to Watertown, MN where she graduated from high school in 1952. There she met Urban Salonek, her next door neighbor, who entered the Army shortly after. She went to Minneapolis to live with family and to work until Urban came home from the Army and graduated from St. John’s in Collegeville. They were married on June 8, 1957 and lived in Watertown where their first child Todd was born.

Urban and Rosalie had a family of seven children (six boys and one girl). They moved to Springfield in 1958, where the rest of the children were born and Urban started work for Englen Corporation. Rosalie stayed home with the children, and she was also involved with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, CCW officer, and numerous other organizations. She was a long-time member of St. Raphael’s Church.

In 1974 Urban & Rose bought the Englen concrete plant, and a few years later the Construction business and started their own business, Salonek Concrete & Construction, Inc. They worked together in the business for 47 years when Urban passed away in 2021. Rose retired from the office in 2020 at the age of 86.

During and after retirement, Rose enjoyed activities with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with family get-togethers. She also enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, cooking, sewing, playing cards, bingo and puzzles.

Rosalie is survived by daughter Judy (Dave) Rubey, sons Jack, Kent (Mary), Rod (Wendy), Craig (Darcy), and Chad (Annette), daughter-in-law Deb, 21 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, two sisters and one brother, and many nieces & nephews.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband Urban and oldest son, Todd, three brothers, three sisters, her parents and a sister in infancy.
