SLEEPY EYE–Jean M. Merkel, 64 of Sleepy Eye, died peacefully on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the Divine Providence Senior Living Community in Sleepy Eye. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye.  Father Craig Timmerman will celebrate the Mass and burial will take place in the Fort Ridgely Cemetery in rural Fairfax at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 1st and continue from 9-10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 2nd all at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Jean is survived by her sons, Daniel Merkel of Fairfax, Jeffrey Merkel of Sleepy Eye; and 4 grandchildren
