Kenneth “Ken” Fluegge

April 29, 1945-April 15, 2025

NEW ULM–Kenneth “Ken” Fluegge, age 79 of New Ulm died Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brighton Township, with Pastor David Linn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH chapel and will continue 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday at church. Ken is survived by his wife, Christine of New Ulm; children, Karen (Phil) Boehlke of Eagan and Kevin (Beth) Fluegge of New Ulm; grandchildren, Eric (Abigail) Boehlke, Katie (Zach) Guldberg, Trent, Anesa, and Emmalie Fluegge, Cole and Kaleb Schwartz; sisters, Sandra Tauer and Arlene Altmann; brother, John (LeAnna) Fluegge; sisters-in-law, Carolyn (James) Drexler, Glenys (Bill) Zins, Nancy (Rick) Grommersch, JoAnn Gieseke; brothers-in-law, Jim (Paulette) Gieseke and John (Trish) Gieseke.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother in infancy, LuVern; brothers-in-law, Mike Tauer, Roger Altmann, and Donald Gieseke.

Kenneth Marlin Fluegge was born April 29, 1945 in New Ulm to Martin and Harriet (Wischstadt) Fluegge. He was a graduate of New Ulm High School and went on to earn an Electrical Engineering degree from at Willmar Vo Tech. On August 19, 1967, Ken was united in marriage to Christine Gieseke at Swan Lake Lutheran Church. The couple was blessed with a daughter and a son, whom together they raised on their family farm. Ken worked for 3M for 20 years and continued to farm for another 20 years until his retirement. Ken was a dedicated Grandpa, always attending the grandchildren’s events and spending time with them. Over the years Ken served on various boards and was a life-long member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. In his spare time, Ken loved to fish. He spent much of his time on the lakes or the ice, sharing time with his family and friends. Ken was a patient, hardworking man whose life was based on “Faith, Family, Farming, and Fishing”. Many memories were made throughout Ken’s life and will live on in those who love him. Blessed be his memory.
