NEW ULM–Joan “JoAn” Vogel, 88 of New Ulm died Friday, February 14, 2025 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Oakwood Methodist Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 – 11 a.m. Thursday at church. Joan is survived by her husband, Harley Vogel of New Ulm; sons, Amos (Marianne) Vogel of Morgan, Caleb Vogel of New Ulm, Eli (Kendra) Vogel of Amboy; grandchildren, MacKenze, Mariah, Katrina, Joshua, Kyla, Ronan and Jason; and a brother Donn Stellmacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother Richard Stellmacher.
Joan Rae Stellmacher was born August 6, 1936 in Flora Township, Renville County to Raymond and Lilia (Black) Stellmacher. She was united in marriage to Harley Vogel on August 7, 1955 at Middle Creek Church in Renville County. Joan worked alongside her husband on the family farm and together they raised their three boys. She enjoyed photography, deer hunting and mushroom hunting.
Joan was an active member of the Oakwood Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the donor’s choice.
