Dennis George Griebel was born in Searles on December 17, 1931, to Alfred and Rose (Weber) Griebel. Dennis attended the Sibley County Country School, where he completed his education through the 9th grade. Dennis served in the army during the Korean War, primarily working as a veterinarian assistant. He married Rose Marie (Colter) Griebel on September 17, 1955, in Waterloo, IA and started farming in Sibley County. They completed their family by adopting four children.

With the help of his wife, his brother Eugene, and a host of nephews, Dennis farmed primarily corn and soybeans along with a herd of dairy cows. As his children got older, he transitioned his farming operation from dairy cows to a farrow-to-finish swine operation in 1973.

After Rose Marie’s passing, Dennis retired from farming and moved to New Ulm. He married his second wife Ardis (Pautzke) Griebel on November 7, 1986, at St Mary’s Church in New Ulm. He was the maintenance manager at the Brown County Fairgrounds for 28 years.

Dennis had a big heart and was always helping anyone in need. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, woodworking in his expansive shop in the garage, and fishing.

Blessed be his memory.
