SPRINGFIELD–Jolene Marie Danielson, age 71 of Springfield, Minnesota died on April 17, 2024, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Visitation will be on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel and will continue on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel. Service will be held at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel, on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. The clergy will be Chaplain Noel Wetter. Interment will be at the Springfield City Cemetery in Springfield. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Jolene Marie (Henning) Danielson, the daughter of Elroy and Esther (Westendorf) Henning, was born on August 19, 1952, in Springfield, Minnesota. She attended Springfield High School and following graduation, she attended Mankato State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. On August 31, 1974, Jolene married the love of her life, Dale Danielson, and they were blessed with two children. Jolene worked as a substitute teacher for many school districts including Springfield, Comfrey, and Butterfield before retiring from the Saint James school district.
Jolene enjoyed bowling and attending to her flower gardens. She was a swim instructor and lifeguard. She was a member of Springfield American Legion Auxiliary and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. She was a faithful volunteer at the annual Butterfield Threshing Bee Lutheran church stand. Every year she always looked forward to spending a week at the lake with lifelong friends. Jolene enjoyed a good, cold beer and pepperoni with green olives pizza. Let’s all raise a toast to remember her!
Jolene is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Dale Danielson; daughter, Amy Danielson (Bob Mendoza); son, Noel (Jennifer) Danielson; granddaughter, Bret Naomi Mendoza, grandson, Beck Nolen Mendoza, and granddaughter, Quinn Katherine Danielson; brother, Roger (Debby) Henning; and sisters-in-law, Barb (Jeff) Price and Lonnie (Ken) Peichel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elroy and Esther Henning; father-in-law, Norm Danielson; and mother-in-law, Lois Danielson.
