HANSKA–Donna L. Steffensmeier, age 75, of Hanska died January 11, 2024 near Hanska in an automobile accident.Memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May, 16th 2024 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH Chapel. Visitation will follow the service from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.. A private inurnment will take place in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Donna is survived by her husband, Dean Steffensmeier and their children, Brian (Melissa) Steffensmeier, Amy (Craig) Sellner, Kevin (Jennifer) Steffensmeier; grandchildren, Brendan, Lauren, Bryce, Emily, Brady, Noah, Hailey, Zack; sisters, Mary Lou Bonnifield, Roberta Grosam; brother, Rodney “Rocky” (Janell) Block.

She is preceded in death by her parents; infant granddaughter, Rachael; brothers, Theodore “Teddy”, James “Jimmy”, Richard and her sister, Rita Kraus.

Donna Lee Block was born February 26, 1948 to Robert and Hertha (Langhoff) Block in New Ulm. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1966. On February 7, 1970 she was united in marriage to Dean Steffensmeier at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage the couple moved to Nicollet where they raised their family. Donna worked for Hewitt Machine and Manufacturing in Nicollet and Schmidt’s Meat Market in Nicollet. Donna enjoyed gardening and canning vegetables. She was known for selling her asparagus and pumpkins. Donna also enjoyed reading books and she loved to spend time with her family. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
