Jonathan Lynn Marquardt

FORBES–Jonathan Lynn Marquardt, 55, of Forbes, MN, died Feb. 16, 2024, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth, MN after battling cancer for over 1 ½ years.
He is survived by his parents, Steve and Lynn (Schneider) Marquardt of Mountain Iron, Mn., a brother, Jay Christopher Marquardt of West Eveleth, Mn., an aunt Jane Downs of Mankato, Mn., uncles Ron (June) Marquardt of New Ulm, Mn., and Paul (Caron) Marquardt of Kansas City, Mo. plus numerous cousins.
Jonny was born May 8, 1968, in Union Hospital, New Ulm, Mn. He attended public schools in New Ulm, MN; Sleepy Eye MN; Poseyville, IN, and Cherry High School, Cherry, MN, graduating in 1986. He participated in several sports during his education, attaining several awards including being named to an Indiana all-star basketball team that captured a multi-state championship and participated in an international basketball tournament in Teaneck, NJ.
Jonny loved the outdoors and had an appetite for learning, especially science. He enjoyed hunting for prized agates and other precious stones. As an avid collector, he also possessed a great knowledge of coins and could tell you most everything about that as well as vehicles, motorcycles, weapons and carpentry. He truly was a skilled craftsman.
He most recently was employed by Hallcon Inc. as a Department Of Transportation (DOT) certified transportation driver for CN railroad employees to and from various Minnesota and Wisconsin locations. He earlier was a self-employed floor installer highly recommended through local retail carpet outlets.
A private family memorial service was arranged by Bauman Funeral Home of Virginia, Mn.
