NEW ULM–Karen Leske, age 74, of New Ulm, died on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Lund officiating.

Karen is survived by her husband, Steve Leske of New Ulm; siblings, Keven (Laurie) Schmit of New Ulm, Warren (Chris Blumke) Schmit of Prescott, WI, Al (Renee) Schmit of New Ulm; in-laws, Chuck Leske of New Ulm, Dave (Mary Lee) Leske of New Ulm, Sandra Sorheim of New Ulm, Tom (Sonja) Leske of New Ulm, Margaret (Jim) Frederickson of Lafayette; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Valeria Schmit; in-laws, Sheldon and Louise Leske-Hartley; sisters-in-law, Gloria Sturm and JoAnn Leske; brothers-in-law, Sam Leske and Al Sorheim; nephew, Jay Frederickson.
Karen Phyllis Schmit was born March 4, 1949 in New Ulm to Matt and Valeria (Lang) Schmit. She graduated from Cathedral High School and attended Patricia Stevens Fashion and Merchandising in Minneapolis. On April 8, 1972, Karen was united in marriage to Steve Leske at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They were blessed with over 50 years of marriage. Karen spent her entire career working for 3M in New Ulm. She was a member of the Turner Ladies and Redeemer Lutheran Church. The American Diabetes Association was important to Karen due to her 55-year battle with diabetes. In her free time, she enjoyed vacations to many warm places including the Gulf Shores, Arizona, Myrtle Beach, and Hawaii. Karen loved getting together with family and especially spending time with her nieces and nephews. Karen had a wonderful sense of humor and was fun to be around. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Blessed be her memory.
