Vernon M. Bjornberg

SHAKOPEE–Beloved Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather Vernon M. Bjornberg, age 96, of Shakopee Minnesota entered eternal life on February 10, 2024. He will be welcomed by the love of his life, Jeanne Bjornberg.
Vernon was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on December 15, 1927, the son of Fred and Inga (Grotta) Bjornberg. Vern was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne is now welcoming him in her arms. While raising a family of 9 children, Vern worked for Minneapolis Honeywell as an accountant. Vern served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from May 1945 – June of 1946 and sailed the seas of the South Pacific.
Vern was known to be Devoted, Supportive, Dependable, Gentle, Fair, Honest, Hardworking, Sacrificing, Humble and to have a Judicious Quick Wit. He was ever loved and will be ever missed. His values were Honesty and Hard Work. Vern loved working with wood as a hobby and craft. It provided him a connection to his heritage of carpenters. Vern loved playing games, especially dominos night with family at his place, he was an avid sports fan, enjoyed time with his grandchildren and was loved by the staff at McKenna’s Crossing where he spent his later years.
He is survived and deeply loved by his children; Michael (Ann) Bjornberg, Kathryn (Mark) Hodapp, Mary Karst, Kevin Bjornberg, Nancy (Brian) Luce, Susan (John) Berens, Lisa (Kevin) Gruetzmacher, Tom (Wendy) Bjornberg, and Sarah (Neil) Wilson; 24 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
When asked what was the smartest thing he had done, he noted – Marrying Jeanne. They were married in February 7, 1953. They set out to create a family. When asked who his heroes were – he replied my children. When asked what he felt best about having a large family, Vern replied Seeing how well they get along and seeing the many grandchildren. There are 24! Family was everything to Vern and Jeanne.
When asked what he thinks will happen when we die – Be rewarded for the good things we do when we are alive. Vern could light up a room and make everyone feel special. He did more good things than there are heartbeats in a lifetime. Vern is now being greatly rewarded for all the good things he has done.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024, at The Parish of Saints Joachim and Anne, Church of St. Mark, 350 Atwood St. South, Shakopee: Visitation from 9-11 a.m; followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Livestream of the Mass will be provided by the Parish of Saints Joachim and Anne. Private Family interment Catholic Cemetery, Shakopee.
