Betty grew up in Gibbon, MN and went to college at Mankato State University where she graduated in 3 years with a double major in Library Sciences and Elementary Education. She was a wonderful and dedicated first grade teacher for 37 years, and during her summers off she did at-home tutoring for many children. For an additional 20 years she was involved in Mothers of Preschool Students (MOPS), as well as a Sunday School Teacher for over 1,000+ students.
Betty was extremely giving, caring, and selfless. She was also very involved in her church, loved her family more than anything, and enjoyed traveling as much as possible. Fun fact- her and Emery made it to 48 of the 50 total states! Emery and her also used to have “Date night Friday’s” which were very special to her. She and Emery had a wonderful life together and could always be found teasing and laughing with each other.
Betty was also involved with many charities and enjoyed spending her time helping those in the community. She worked closely with Lutheran Women’s Mission League (LWML), Meals on Wheels, as well as at the local cancer drive. She was also on the educational board of Directors at her church, Redeemer.
Betty will be remembered for her love, generosity, and the way she always put everyone else first. She was a loving and loyal wife, wonderful mother, and beloved grandmother. She always had a smile on her face and never stopped fighting, even until the very end. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those she loved.
