Lawrence “Larry” Wojciak

NEW ULM–Lawrence (Larry) Anthony Wojciak passed away peacefully on Monday, August 21, 2023, at the age of 75. Larry was a beloved member of the New Ulm, MN, and Encinitas, CA, communities. Larry was known for his commitment to helping others, his love of the outdoors, and his many friends and family members.

Larry is survived by his wife Sue, son Jonathan (Raylene), daughter Julianne (Joel), granddaughter Mikayla, brother Edward, and four sisters, Carole, Kathleen, Joanne, and Teresa.

Larry resided in New Ulm from 1987 to 2013. He worked in child protection for both Brown County Family Services and the State of Minnesota, dedicating his career to improving the lives of children and families. He was a strong supporter of the community and public schools, rarely missing a high school game or community-recreational event.

Upon retirement, Larry and Sue moved to northern Minnesota to enjoy the serene beauty of the many lakes, pine trees, and expansive skies. In 2017, they moved to southern California to be closer to family, including beloved granddaughter Mikayla, with whom they enjoyed numerous sleepovers, soccer matches and holiday memories.

Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a truly special person who made the world a better place.

An open-house Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held on September 30, 2023, from 2-5 p.m. at The Franklin Downtown, 126 N Minnesota Street, New Ulm, MN. There will be a brief program at approximately 3:30 pm. The family welcomes you to share stories/memories at that time. In lieu of flowers, please send a memory (story and/or photo) to the family at RememberingLarryWojciak@gmail.com, or make a donation to the New Ulm Area Foundation, https://newulmareafoundation.org/Lawrence
