Mary Therese Becker

SAINT PAUL–Mary Therese Becker, 59, of Saint Paul died on September 12th following a brief illness. Mary was the sixth child born to John Becker Sr. and Maureen Tobin of New Ulm, and was a graduate of the College of St. Benedict. She will always be remembered for her immeasurable generosity and unconditional compassion for others. Her presence lies at the core of many wonderful memories cherished by friends and family alike. Those who knew Mary were lucky to witness her unique gift for building relationships and making those around her feel seen, valued, and supported. Mary was a brilliant light in our lives and her laugh was the soundtrack of every family gathering. No words can adequately describe how much she will be missed.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, and brothers Frank and Jim. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Ricardo Salazar; brothers, John (Laura) and Bob (Laura); sisters, Jean (Michael) and Barbara; sister-in-law Barbara (Dave); nephews, Riley (Megan), Ian (Nina), Zack (Dani), and Hector; nieces, Jane, Ruby, Kat; and great-nieces and -nephews, Alexa, Charlie, Cole, and Ronan. She was incredibly loved by many cousins, friends, colleagues, and countless honorary nieces, nephews and her husband’s family in Mexico.
Just as Mary Becker would, the family extends immense gratitude to all medical personnel of the 5th floor and the ICU of the University of Minnesota Hospital East for their exceptional care. Details for a celebration of her life will be shared at a later date. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be sent to the Immune Deficiency Foundation.
