Lois Bode

Lois Bode, 92, of New Ulm died Monday, December 19, 2022 at Pathstone Living in Mankato.

A Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. A private burial will take place in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH Chapel in New Ulm.

Lois is survived by her daughters, Donna Mielke of New Ulm, Mary Herlick of Duluth and Ruth (Mark) Hansen of New Ulm; sons, James (Kelly) Herlick of Grand Island, Neb. and Charles (Deb) Herlick of Courtland; step-son, Troy (Rachel) Bode of New Ulm; step-daughters, Bonnie (Ron) Enter of Buffalo and JoAnn Bode of Mankato; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a daughter Rita Herlick; step-son Tom Bode; son-in law, Richard Mielke; brothers, Donald (Leona Hahn) and Joseph (Gladys) Hahn; sisters, Lucille (Arthur) Rickers and Lozina (Otto) Clobes Jr.; and a sister Rose Marie Hahn at birth.

Lois Frances Hahn was born March 9, 1930 in New Ulm to John and Rosa (Helget) Hahn. She grew up in Brighton Township and attended School District #59. Lois was united in marriage to Randolph Herlick on April 28, 1948 at the Church of the Visitation at Swan Lake. They were the parents of six children. He died on April 20, 1967. Lois then married Wilmar Hulke on September 21, 1968 and he died January 21, 1972. She then married Loren “Pete” Bode on April 7, 1973 and he died September 4, 2003. Lois was employed at Eibner & Son, B.F. Goodrich and Holm Industries until retiring in 1995.

She was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, St. Elizabeth Catholic Financial, and a member and Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 132. Lois enjoyed fishing, old time music, playing cards and was an avid Twins fan.
