Thomas T. Richter

Thomas T. Richter, age 81, of New Ulm, passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022, after a four-year struggle with Lewy body dementia at the Oak Hills Living Center.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes-SOUTH Chapel. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Karen Richter; daughter, Chris Richter; grandchildren, Anna (Jake) Courrier, Nathan (Mandy) Evers, Jeremy Evers; brothers, Jerry (Caroline) Richter, Don (Connie) Richter, Mike Richter, Ted (Constance) Richter, Ron (Kim) Richter; brothers-in-law, Bruce Franta, Brian (Lori) Franta; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Loretta Franta; brother-in-law, Barry Franta and sister-in-law, Sue Dietz.
Thomas Theodore Richter was born July 27, 1941, to Theodore and Margaret (Steinbach) Richter in New Ulm. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. He was united in marriage to Karen Franta on May 11, 1963, in St. George, Minnesota. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Boelter Construction and 3-M. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, racing and playing cards. He will be remembered for his famous “horse whistle.” He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
