Robert “Bob” Eichten
Robert “Bob” Eichten, age 65, passed away suddenly at home on July 29.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard “Duke” and Lyla Eichten; father-in-law, Robert Meis; and nephew, Ricky Eichten.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Meis) Eichten; children, Meredith (Kevin Anhut), John (Leah Kremer), and Natalie (Randy Burns); and siblings, William (Victoria), Peter (Jane), and Anne (Andy) Biebl. Bob is also survived by Sharon’s family, including his mother-in-law, Mary Jane Meis, five sisters and brothers-in-law and their spouses. Bob’s family was large and loving. He was also survived by 24 nieces and nephews and their families.
He was born in New Ulm, Minnesota, on Feb. 24, 1957, attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and New Ulm Cathedral High School, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration/accounting from the University of St. Thomas. He worked in the financial planning industry his entire career. He was active in the Minnesota Financial Planning Association, including as treasurer from 2006-2018.
He was supportive, warm, welcoming, bright, devilishly handsome and caring. He would always greet you with a smile and a Big Ginger. He was an avid and talented golfer, and the ultimate purveyor of dad jokes. His sense of humor was contagious and would fill up a room. He will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Cremation Society of Minnesota-Minneapolis, 4343 Nicollet Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55409 (612-825-2435). Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at St. Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave. S., Minneapolis, MN 55419, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. anda luncheon to follow Mass.
