Greg Reiniger

Greg Reiniger passed away July 1, 2022, at home at the age of 67 years.

Greg was born May 10, 1955, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, to John and Theresa (Sellner) Reiniger. Greg was confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1974. He attended Pipestone Technical College and earned his degree in meat cutting. On Nov. 26, 1977, Greg married Cheryl (Cheri) Norman. They made their home in Sleepy Eye.

Greg was employed by Advertising Unlimited, Retzlaff’s Hardware Store and at 3M for over 20 years. He was a member of the River of Life Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Shoreview, MN. Greg’s life was always full of family, friends and fun. He loved working outdoors especially felling trees and making wood. Greg had the gift of helping others and was always willing to drop what he was doing to lend a helping hand whenever there was a need — particularly when it came to working on any projects. Greg loved learning new things and was always on his cellphone “Googling” for new ideas or trying to figure how to do things better. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.

Greg was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

Greg was preceded in death by his parents, John and Theresa Reiniger; brother, John Reiniger; nephew, Johnny Reiniger; father-in-law, J. Bruce Norman; and brother-in-law, John Heilman III.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Cheri; sons, Chris aka Gubby (Erin) of Fargo, North Dakota; Jeff (Rachel) of New Ulm; and Tim (Rosie) of Maplewood; seven grandchildren: Cayden, Tucker, Harper, Taegen, Nolyn, Alexa and Griffin; mother-in-law, Marlys Norman; sisters: Ann (Dave) Hansvick of Marshall, Minnesota, Cathy Heilman of Huron, South Dakota, Sue (Dennis) Haberland of Shawano, Wisconsin, Terry (Doug) Schottle of New Ulm and Nancy (Dave) Reed of Layfette, Minnesota; brothers, Dan (Karlynne) of Sleepy Eye, Dave of Dubai, and Bill (Laura) of Janesville, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Steve (Debbie) Norman of Pine River; extended family: Zada (Marcus) Valvick of Lakota, Iowa, and Annette (Arlyn) of Ledyard, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at River of Life Church in Shoreview, Minnesota. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. The service will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpILZbIwHFn_xmo696z7pRw.

Greg was a part of a grandparents group with the Minnesota Down Syndrome Association and was planning on going on a Missions trip to Cambodia next year, supporting Phearom and Julie Chham’s ministry there.
