Lloyd William Voges was born May 15, 1940, to Melvin and Alma (Gieseke) Voges in New Ulm. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and Nicollet High School, where he met Naomi. On June 10, 1961, Lloyd was united in marriage with Naomi Bode at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Courtland. The two were blessed with four children. Lloyd and Omi raised their children and spent much of their lives on their farm outside of Courtland until retirement brought them to their current home in Courtland. Lloyd was a hardworking farmer who took pride in his work. His father ran a seed business, which later Lloyd took over and eventually carried over to his grandson. Lloyd was a simple and humble man who found joy in spending time with family and friends. For more than 50 years he enjoyed playing cards with the same card club and bowled in the farmers bowling league for almost 45 years. He always found good company while attending baseball games, playing the concertina in several bands, and spending time at church. He was a devout member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and held positions with many church offices. In his younger years, Lloyd was a member of the Army Reserve where he was a sharpshooter. Lloyd had a passion for fishing, which he passed on to his children from a young age. Over the years he took many fishing trips to Canada with friends and family. He will be greatly missed for the wonderful dad, grandpa and friend that he was. Blessed be his memory.
