Ronald “Ron” Schirlinger

Ronald “Ron” Schirlinger, age 73, of River Falls, Wisconsin, died suddenly but peacefully at home on Wednesday morning, April 13, 2022.

Ronald Herbert, the son of Herbert and Stella (Hanslick) Schirlinger, was born on March 11, 1949, in New Ulm, Minnesota. Following his graduation from high school, Ron enlisted in the United States Army, served during the Vietnam War, and was granted an honorable discharge. After many years of love and friendship, Ron was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Peterson, and they lived in River Falls for many years. Ron, or sometimes known as “Chevy” by his friends, was a lifelong car mechanic and loved collecting classic cars, especially his Corvette and Impala.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ron is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Peterson; siblings, Bob, Mary Ann, and Betty; and by many other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings. Immediately following the Mass, military honors will be performed by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210. Private family interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service. A reception will be held immediately following the Mass at the church.
