Angie began her dance through life March 7, 1922, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. The daughter of Ezra Frederick and Laurina (Weyenberg) Stumpf. She graduated with honors from Notre Dame High School in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. She knew from the age of 12 that she was either going to enter the medical field or become a dancer. She earned a BS degree in nursing from the College of St. Theresa in Winona, Minnesota. Angie started her career at St. Mary’s Hospital in Minneapolis, where she worked for four years.

Angie’s dance became a two-step when she met the love of her life, Arnold (Arnie) Raymond Anderl, and they were married on May 8, 1948. Arnie and Angie waltzed to the maternity ward nine times when Arnie passed away suddenly in 1968, leaving Angie to care for all the children, the youngest just six weeks old. Her extraordinary faith and determination carried her through this tough time.

Angie was a valuable member of the New Ulm Community for 40 plus years. She was the co-founder of the Solo Parents Group in New Ulm. A group where single parents with children could get together for socializing, fun and support of each other. She was a co-founder of the St. Jude’s Guild. Community service was important to Angie. She volunteered for the New Ulm Chamber of Commerce, New Ulm Medical Center, Oak Hill Living Center and Meals on Wheels. She was also a Turner Lady. Angie is best known for the care of new mothers and their babies, first while working at Loretto Hospital (Were you lucky enough to receive one of her famous backrubs?) and then as a public health nurse childcare coordinator for Brown County. She worked tirelessly educating and helping new mothers on the care of their babies and the importance of self care. You can still hear the accolades “If it wasn’t for Angie” and “Angie — the kindness you showed when you visited me” and “Angie I have fond memories…” Angie helped others in the dance of their life. She made a difference through a life full of service and her strong desire to make life better for others.

Angie’s endless energy and enthusiasm showed in everything she did. She loved life and danced her way through it. She enjoyed gardening, swimming, fishing and golfing. She wouldn’t turn down an invite for a new adventure. She received numerous awards and is most proud of her Mother of the Year award in 1986. Her love of travel brought her to many different countries.

Angie (or Angeline) is survived by her nine children, Katherine (Dave) Adam of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Fred (Hilda) Anderl of Margate, Florida, Steve (LeAnn) Anderl of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, Mary (Jeff) Swanson of New Ulm Minnesota, Tom (Jan) Anderl of New Ulm, Minnesota, Elizabeth-Betti (Steve) Domeier of Oakdale, Minnesota, Barbera Ahee of Dallas, Texas, Joseph Anderl of Palm Bay, Florida, and Robert (Cheryl) Anderl of Hermitage, Tennessee; 17 grandchildren, Louis, David Adam, Angeline (Adam) Freeman, Johnathan, Jennifer Anderl, Katie, Laura, Rebecca Anderl, Jon, Matthew Landquist, Aimee, Jon Swanson, Nancy (Anderl) Lilleodden, Ben, Chris, Zach Domeier, Luke Ahee; 43 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Jaqueline Stumpf and Helen Zutter.
