Ramona was born on March 2, 1937, to Arthur and Meta (Yager) Krohn, on the family farm near Howard Lake, MN. She attended St. James Lutheran Parochial School for eight years and then attended Howard Lake High School, graduating in 1955. She worked in the Cities after graduation, where she met her husband, Dean. Ramona Krohn married Dean Kirchner on April 26, 1958, in Howard Lake. The couple had five children: Tammy, Terry, Carmen, Keith and Heidi. The couple moved to New Ulm and then Springfield in 1974, and later moved to Sleepy Eye in 1984. Ramona worked at AUI for 16 years and at the Sleepy Eye Care Center for 7 years, until her retirement in 2004. Ramona enjoyed sewing and embroidering, spending time in the kitchen cooking and baking delicious meals and treats for her family. She also loved gardening and putting jigsaw puzzles together. Ramona had a great joy with listening and dancing to polka music. Most of all, Ramona took great pride in her family, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved every moment being together. She had a great sense of humor and always put a smile on everyone’s face that knew her.

She is survived by children Keith Kirchner of Sleepy Eye; Tammy (Jerry) Balster of Lake City, Florida; son-in-law, Todd Ibberson of Sleepy Eye; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Tom Krohn of Howard Lake, and Grant (Debbie) Krohn of Maple Lake; sisters Rita Krohn of Minneapolis, and Mary Krohn of Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean in 1995; children Terry Kirchner, Carmen Halvorson and Heidi Ibberson; brothers, Jerry Krohn, Roland Krohn, and Dale Krohn; sister, Paulette Krohn; and son-in-law, Lane Halvorson.
