Douglas is survived by his son, Ryan (Tiffea) of Cologne; stepson, Gavin of Cologne; brother, Michael (Barb) Marz of Springfield; sisters, Deborah (Gary) Groebner of Springfield and Patricia (Gary) Wittman of Lake Lillian; numerous nieces and nephews; significant other, Sue Steffl of Springfield; and long-time friend, Scott Arnsdorf.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Douglas James Marz was born on August, 13, 1950 to Leonard and Jeanine (Schultz) Marz of Springfield. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1968. Doug married Theresa Ohleman in 1972 and soon after their son Ryan was born. They later divorced in 1999. In high school Doug worked with his father in mechanical work at the Texaco business. He later worked as a Street Superintendent for Springfield for 34 years. After retirement he enjoyed driving truck for Farmward and Arnsdorf Trucking.

Doug had many hobbies such as 4-wheeling, snowmobiling, motorcycling, side by siding, and camping. He was passionate about remodeling jobs at his home, cats, and collecting Lionel trains and train memorabilia. Doug enjoyed the finer things in life such as Coors Light, Dr. Pepper, and time with family and friends.
