Darlene Kuester, 78, of New Ulm died Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with ennichement in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral.
The Christian Mother’s Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral.
The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.

Born January 9th, 1944 in New Ulm, she was the daughter of Arthur and Erna (Huelskamp) Wendinger. Darlene graduated from Cathedral High School in New Ulm in 1962. On July 30, 1966, she married Michael Kuester of rural Courtland and they lived together in New Ulm. Darlene found her calling as a nurse and graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Mankato as an LPN. She was employed as an LPN for Loretto Hospital, now Allina, and worked for 45 years until her retirement at the New Ulm Medical Center. She truly enjoyed her work family! Darlene was not one to sit still. She and dad were always on the go, helping various charities and fundraisers, traveling on a Guatemala mission, and enjoying time in the company of family and friends. Darlene enjoyed helping others and had a prayer list always going, as she believed strongly in the power of prayer.
Darlene Ann Kuester is survived by her husband, Michael Kuester of New Ulm; son Brian (Denise) Kuester of rural New Ulm; daughters Laura (Patrick) Stadick of Courtland, and Julie (Chad) Horkey of rural Pine Island; granddaughters, Jessica (Steve) Kloeckl, Kara (Jeremy) Fluegge; grandsons, John Stadick, Ben Kuester, Andrew Kuester, Michael Horkey and Matthew Horkey; great-grandchildren include John Martin Fluegge and Dane Audrick Fluegge.
She was just recently proceeded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Arden Olson.
Her passing may seem sudden, however she valued quality over quantity in life. Darlene spent the time surrounded by her family and friends. She was one to always have a positive attitude and kind words of encouragement. Even though she has left this earth; her spirit will remain in all of us.
