Roger Victor Altmann was born October 27, 1940, in New Ulm to Victor and Winifred (Meyer) Altmann. He was a 1958 graduate of the New Ulm High School. On September 21, 1963, Roger was united in marriage to Arlene Fluegge at the Zion Lutheran Church in Brighton Township. This union blessed the couple with a daughter and three sons whom together they raised in Klossner. Roger worked a long and dedicated 35-year career as the Klossner Grain Manager with the United Farmer’s Cooperative as well as farming his own land before retiring in 2000. In retirement, Roger still got the opportunity to farm working for area farmers who were in need of help. Besides his work, there were a variety of activities he enjoyed in life. In his younger days, Roger enjoyed frequenting local dance halls with his wife where they loved listening and dancing to old tyme music. He also enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and playing cards with family and friends. Roger had a lifelong appreciation for John Deere tractors and besides using them for work, he also enjoyed running in tractor pulls and local plowing contests. Roger was a dedicated lifetime member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brighton Township where he served on the church council as well as treasurer and an elder. Roger served his community as the president of the Klossner Water Association as well as the Nicollet County Planning and Zoning Commission. Roger was proud of his faith, and his farming, but what he was most proud of was the family he helped build. Nothing brought him greater joy in life than time he got to spend with his family, and he especially loved getting to see his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Blessed be his memory.
