Delores Lena Ellig was born on Dec. 3, 1930, in rural Sibley County to Julius and Emma (Schuette) Ellig. The 7th of 9 children, she defied the odds at birth weighing only three pounds, this fighting spirit would be prevalent throughout her life. She was a 1949 graduate of Winthrop High School. She was united in Marriage to LeRoy P. Flor on November 25, 1952 in Gaylord. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before LeRoy’s death in 2018. The couple farmed in Sigel Township and were blessed with four children. Along with helping on the farm and raising her children, Delores started working full-time at 3M in New Ulm in 1968, retiring after 26 years in 1994. The couple retired from farming and moved to New Ulm in 1982. Upon her retirement Delores was heavily involved with volunteering her time and talents to many different causes. She volunteered extensively with the Turner Ladies, with Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Church and at the New Ulm Senior Center. She also took up playing drums, and Delores and LeRoy shared their talents of playing Old Time music, playing at countless anniversaries, church celebrations, festivals, and senior living communities over the years. Due to these efforts Delores and LeRoy were awarded the Outstanding Senior Citizens Award. Delores’ greatest joy in her life was her family and she especially cherished her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Her hobbies included cooking, baking, canning, dancing, playing old time music and playing cards with friends and family. Her family is blessed with many memories of lively card games enjoyed with her. She was an avid Twins fan and when she was 80 had the opportunity to attend her first Twins game at Target Field in 2010. She was a devout member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. Delores will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
