Edward Frank Holm

LAKEVIEW, AR — Edward Holm, 95, formerly of New Ulm, died on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021.

He is survived by his daugher, Carol and her partner Mary of Lakeview. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hermina; wife. Arlene (May 2020) and his brothers and sisters.

He was born Aug. 9, 1926 in New Ulm. He went to country school and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1944. He joined the Army that same year. Once back home he made the trucking industry his career for 41 years (Hess & Murphy Motor Freight). On one of his many trips to Tracy, MN he met his future wife, Arlene Schmidt. They married on May 20, 1952 in Tracy. In time they moved to the big city, Minneapolis, and then to Columbia Heights. They moved to New Ulm in 1989. They lived on Payne Street, just a few blocks down from his folks’ home. They stayed there until Arlene passed away in May of 2000. In June of 2001 he moved to California to be closer to his daughter. While he lived in Cathedral City, he made a lot of close friends; they were “family” to him. Being the oldest resident on his block, many called him Dad. Then, sadly, Ed’s health started to changed. He moved to Arkansas with his daughter in 2019. He went to be with the Lord in October and surely will be missed.

Burial will be at a later date in New Ulm. To leave an online condolence for his family, go to karolkatz01@aol.com. Memorials can be sent to Hospice of the Ozarks in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
