Russell Floyd Renberg was born May 22, 1932, to Floyd and Anna (Elsing) Renberg in Cottonwood County. He attended Comfrey Public School and then helped on the family farm. Russ served in the Army for two years. On December 31, 1955, Russ was united in marriage to Carol Berg at the Ladd Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska. The couple returned to the Comfrey area where he farmed with his brother Loren. Russell lived on the family farm for 70 years northwest of Comfrey until moving to Springfield. Russ enjoyed riding his 3-wheel cycle and golf cart, watching sports and TV, playing cards and dice, growing flowers, watching the birds, and decorating his outside space. His greatest enjoyment and love were his family. Russ was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and the Albin Johnson American Legion.
He is survived by his children, Kay (Mike) Johnson of Willmar, Kari (Fred) Aten of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Becky (Mike) Broll, Dave (Sara) Johnson, Sam (Allison) Aten; great-grandchildren, Landon and Olivia Johnson and Madisyn Broll; and brother Loren (Pat) Renberg. Russ was preceded in death by parents and wife Carol.
