A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2021 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes – SOUTH chapel in New Ulm, with Pastor Kathy Ulland-Klinkner officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. at the SOUTH chapel.

Lorraine is survived by her daughters-in-law, Kris Kottschade and Nancy Ford; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; sister Elenora Behnke and her daughter, Diane (Loren) Sohre; other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Archie; sons, Jerry Ford and Jeff Ford; brother, Laverne Proehl; and sister, Caroline Wiebold.

Lorraine Thelma Proehl was born September 17, 1927, in Mapleton, to Arthur and Elsie (Radke) Proehl. She graduated in 1946 from Mapleton High School and went on to complete beauty school in Mankato. In 1947, she moved to New Ulm, where she opened Blossom’s Beauty Shop, which later became Lorraine’s beauty shop. Lorraine owned and operated her beauty salons for 55 years. On June 22, 1955, Lorraine was united in marriage to Archie Ford at St Paul’s Lutheran Church. The two were blessed with two sons. Lorraine was a long-time member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. She enjoyed shopping, reading, puzzles, and time spent with her sister and other family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
