NEW ULM — Shawn Meinzer, age 58, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Pastor Nathan Scharf will officiate. A private family burial will be held.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Shawn is survived by his mother, Carol Meinzer of New Ulm; sons, Jason (Katie) Meinzer of Mankato, Ryan (Sami Poindexter) Meinzer of Minneapolis, Justin (Aleshia) Meinzer of Buffalo; grandchildren, Nathan, Cameron, Mackenna, Hayley, and Aubree Meinzer; brothers, Dan (Kay) Meinzer of New Ulm, Doyle (Kim) Meinzer of Madison Lake; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Michelle Meinzer; father, Curtis Meinzer; parents-in-law, Gene and Shirley Bode; and grandparents, Elmer and Edna Kitzrow, John and Bertha Meinzer.

Shawn Allen Meinzer was born April 28, 1963 to Curtis and Carol (Kitzrow) Meinzer in Sleepy Eye. He graduated from New Ulm Public High School and worked at Dannheim Dairy. Shawn then began his career at AMPI as a butter maker. On December 1, 1984, Shawn Meinzer and Michelle Kartes were united in marriage at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm. They were later remarried on December 1, 2007 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. In his free time, Shawn enjoyed going hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and playing pool and cards. He especially enjoyed all the time he was able to spend with his family and grandchildren. Shawn will be dearly missed by those that knew him. Blessed be his memory.
