James Carl Stegeman

James Carl Stegeman, of Templeton, MA formerly a longtime Acton, MA resident, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at his home. He was 74 years old. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Fisher) Stegeman to whom he was married 48 years.

James was born and raised in New Ulm, Minnesota son of the late Harry and Lucille (Reinhart) Stegeman. He graduated in 1969 from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s in electrical engineering. He went on to receive his Master’s from Northeastern. After taking a job with Honeywell, he moved to Massachusetts where shortly thereafter he began working for the Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard. After marrying his wife Peggy, the Stegemans settled in Acton in 1975 where they raised their daughter. James was an accomplished engineer and was granted several patents for computer memories. He always kept himself busy, whether it was with the Acton Minutemen or a good book. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife Peggy, James is survived by his daughter Leah Stegeman of Boxborough. He was predeceased by his sister Harriet Urberg.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thursday, September 23 from 9:30-11 a.m. in the Acton Funeral Home 470 Massachusetts Avenue (Rte. 111) Acton. A service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Concord Road, Acton.
