Janann Kay Johnson

MANKATO — Janann Kay Johnson, age 75, of Mankato, passed away at home surrounded by her loving children after a short and courageous journey with cancer.

Visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Sunday, July 25, 2021 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato. Funeral service will be 11am, Monday, July 26, 2021 at church with visitation again one hour prior. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Mankato. Janann (Bublitz) was born July 3, 1946 to Martin “Mike” and Florence (Hermel) Bublitz. She was baptized July 14, 1946 and confirmed April 10, 1960. She attended and graduated from Nicollet High School in 1964.

Shortly after, she met and fell in love with James Johnson. They married July 13, 1968 and celebrated over 50 years of marriage until his passing in 2019. Together, they shared their lives with their three children, Rodney Johnson, Sherry (Jerry) Keating, and Chrissy (Jeff) Rasmussen.

Janann worked in the lab of ADM for over 40 years and retired in 2007. After retirement, she enjoyed visiting antique stores and craft shows. She could always be found outside tending to her many beautiful flower gardens.

She is survived by her children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; as well as her two sisters, Karen Louwagie and Callie (Greg) Olson; three nieces; and one nephew. Janann is preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; brother-in-law, Rick Louwagie; and her husband, Jim Johnson.
