Scott Dennis Portner

Scott Dennis Portner, age 60, of New Ulm, MN died on June 7, 2021 in Independence, KY. He was born on July 30, 1960 in New Ulm, MN to Dennis and Sharon (Macho) Portner. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School through 8th grade and graduated from New Ulm Senior High School in 1978.

He served in the US Army from 1983 – 1990 as a Combat Medic. During his time in the military, he became certified as a Respiratory Therapist in 1988 which started his lifelong career as an RT. He was stationed in Germany for a while and loved it and visited several times during his life. He spent most of his life in Louisville, KY to be near his twin children, Jordan and James. He did enjoy taking traveling RT positions and lived in various parts of the country from Northern California, to Florida, to Arizona and also his home state of Minnesota.

He was a big sports fan and loved his Minnesota Vikings and Twins. He had an incredible, vast love and knowledge of music. He and his sister, Kara, would meetup every chance they could to see their favorite bands. He brought so much laughter to his family and friends. He had such a very funny, quick-witted, original sense of humor. He also had a very strong faith and spent many hours on the phone with his sister, Kim, about God and life. We all loved our long talks with Scott. He loved spending time with his kids and grandson, Noah. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

There will be a military burial at a later date near Louisville, KY. He is survived by his mother, Sharon (Macho) Portner, stepfather, William Wolf, his twin children, Jordan and James of Louisville, KY, sister Kim (Tom) Lampi, sister Kara (Miguel) Portner and grandson Noah, aunts Julie (John) Schroeck, and Laurie (Alan) Eckstein Solberg.
