Funeral Service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11 a.m.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 22, 2021 from 9 to 11 am at the church.

COVID-19 rules and regulations will be followed including social distancing and use of masks.

The clergy will be Father Mark Steffl.

Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. Mary’s Church or School.

Arthur Joseph Sellner was born on July 27, 1922 in Mulligan Township, Brown County the son of Joseph and Anna (Reiniger) Sellner. He married Marion Mary Hillesheim on October 15, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Art and Marion farmed south of Sleepy Eye for 34 years before moving to town 40 years ago. Faith, family and farming were the center of his life. Art was active in his church, a member of Knights of Columbus and Catholic United Financial. Family was important to him, always concerned about their welfare and praying for them. He also enjoyed the family celebrations with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Art frequently commented on how fortunate he was to be a farmer. He especially enjoyed seeing the fields turn green in the spring. After moving to town he grew beautiful roses that surrounded his home.

Arthur is survived by his children, Theresa Thomas of Chanhassen, Anna Marie (Craig) Gifford of Balaton, Mary Jane (Martin) Hoffmann, David (MaDonna) Sellner, Linda Schroepfer all of Sleepy Eye, son-in-law, Larry Mages of Lafayette, 25 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and brother-in-law, Meinrad Hillesheim. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion, daughter, Margaret Mages, sons-in-law, George Thomas, Paul Schroepfer, his parents and sisters, Edith (John) Rosenstengel, Cecilia (Clarence) Hornick and Mary Magdelen (Harold) Wersal.
