Carl Michael Sowers

NEW ULM — Carl Michael Sowers, age 64, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at his home in New Ulm.

A visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2021 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm.

All guests in attendance are required to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.

Carl is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Carrie Sowers of New Ulm; children and grandchildren; David (Nicole) Sowers of New Ulm, their children Paige, Emily, Abigail, and Nolan; Bethany Hutchens of New Ulm, her children William, Hunter, Casey, Brett, and Ava; Daniel (Marja) Sowers of New Ulm, their children Hazel and Grace; Valerie (Wade) Haas of Mead, Nebraska; Cheri Allen of Inver Grove Heights; his brothers, Richard Sowers and Tom Kissner; sister-in-law, Lauraine Sowers of Sleepy Eye; and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, grandson, Luke Sowers, and brother, Stan Sowers.

Carl Michael Sowers was born May 17, 1956 to Michael Victor and Rosalie (Thurston) Sowers in Sleepy Eye. He graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School and, shortly after graduating, was united in marriage to Carrie Buechler on November 17, 1979. Carl made a career as an autobody business owner, owning and operating Underpass Body Shop in New Ulm since 1980. He was also a former member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Sleepy Eye and Faith Bible Fellowship in New Ulm. Carl loved New Ulm, watching the Minnesota Twins, fishing with his family, and all the time he was able to spend with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those that knew him. Blessed be his memory.
