Roger E. Julien

NEW ULM — Roger E. Julien, age 85 of New Ulm passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be held 1 pm Monday, November 30, 2020 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Kathy Ulland-Klinkner officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery Soldiers Rest Section.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Monday.
The funeral service will be livestreamed through the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home’s Facebook page starting at 1 pm on Monday.
Social distancing guidelines must be practiced, and all guests in attendance at the visitation and funeral will be required to wear a mask.

Roger is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Jeff (LuAnn) Julien, Julie (Paul) Martens, Jay (Barb) Julien; grandchildren, Grace Julien, Joshua (Brittany) Martens, Amber (Curt) Thoreson, Alicia (Michael) Meinzer, Cole Julien, Shelby Julien; great-grandchildren, Urijah Martens, Raylin Martens, Logan Thoreson, Emily Thoreson; brother, Glen (Sharon) Julien; sister-in-law, Ann Julien and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eunice; and his brother, Lloyd.
Roger E. Julien was born September 10, 1935 to Elmer and Julia (Olsen) Julien in Balaton, MN. He grew up on his family farm and attended Balaton High School. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1954 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He was united in marriage to Mary Hill on August 22, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Balaton. He ran Norge’s Laundromat for two years before working at 3M for 25 years. He was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Roger enjoyed woodworking and working on cars. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could fix almost anything. He loved to spend time with his family and was especially proud of how close they all were. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
