Ramona Jean Danhouser

Ramona Jean Danhouser, beloved wife of the late Edward Danhouser, passed away peacefully at her home in Elk River on October 28, 2020.

Mona, as she was affectionately known, was born on February 20, 1935 in New Ulm, Minnesota to parents John and Helen Kenning. She graduated from the Faribault School for the Deaf in 1956. Growing up, Mona spent her summers at her parents’ farm in Brighton Township. She tended to the chickens and spent hours with the cats. If a cat bit her, she would bite the cat back. She played dress up in the playhouse and made many mud pies with her two sisters and brother.

Mona had a pen pal in Sacramento, CA and traveled there in 1958 to visit her. While visiting, Mona met her husband, Edward, and they eloped to Reno, NV on October 8, 1960. They returned to Minnesota in 1966 where Mona and Edward raised their four children in Minneapolis. Mona was dedicated to her children and treasured them very much. Mona and Edward were married for 53 years.

Mona worked for The Pillsbury Company for many years and retired in 1998. She continued to enjoy her favorite hobbies every day. She spent her time crocheting and making crafts including her handmade Christmas cards. She became quite the expert at solving crypto quip puzzles. Every night, she would say the Lord’s Prayer and sleep with the family bible.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, parents, parents-in-law, brother Elray “Buddy” Kenning, and brother-in-law George Brandel.

Those that shared her life include son, Lee (Rhonda) Danhouser; daughters, Janet Harnack, Katherine (Michael) Emmons, and Debora (Bill) Feriancek; grandchildren, Alesha, Kayla (Steven), Andrew (Nicole), Kristin (Matthew), Steven, Ashley (Chris), Katie (Jon), Kendra (Mark), Shaunessy, Cory, and Amanda; and great-grandsons, Adam, Cameron, JJ, and Luke. Also, her sisters, Marie Brandel and Helen (Lynn) Olson, sisters-in-law Phyllis Kenning and Genevieve Boehnlein, brother-in-law Kenneth (Leila) Danhouser, and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A good heart has stopped beating, a good soul ascended to heaven.
