Freddie E. McGinnis, age 75, of New Ulm, died Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Private family services will be held at a later date. A celebration of life will be held at Smiley’s Tavern, 425 N. State St. at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 24.

Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is assisting the family.

Freddie is survived by his son, Dan (Trina) McGinnis of New Ulm; daughter, Carol (Jay) Rylander of White Bear Lake; six grandchildren; Jamie McGinnis, Jon (Mai) Rylander, Devan McGinnis, Jade (Hunter) Rylander, Jared McGinnis and Dru Goudlock; one great-granddaughter, Natalie (Jon & Mai) Rylander; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by parents Fred and Naomi McGinnis

Freddie Eugene McGinnis was born on March 17, 1945 in Checotah, OK to Fred & Naomi (Hightower) McGinnis. Freddie was married to Shirley Westbury for over two decades and had two children together…they remained close friends to the very end. Fred enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family. We are saddened to say the world lost the “Last Cowboy”!
