A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Hanska.

Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is assisting the family with arrangements.

Arlys is survived by her children, Denise (LaVerne) Paulson, Lance (Jodie) Sletta, Dawn (Randy) Johnson, Laine (Beth) Sletta, Lee (Teri) Sletta, and Landon (Jodi) Sletta; 15 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandchild and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orris Sletta; her parents, Richard and Violet Ahlness; sisters and brothers-in-law, Loen (Charles) Troldahl, Donna (Ralph) Hagert; an infant grandson and nieces and nephews.

Arlys LaVaun Ahlness was born March 10, 1933 in Linden Township to Richard and Violet (Lemke) Ahlness. She graduated from Hanska High School in 1950. On May 5, 1951 she was united in marriage to Orris Sletta at the Linden Lutheran Church. She was a teacher’s aide at the elementary school in Hanska for over 20 years.

She enjoyed bowling, dancing and gardening. She was actively involved in the Zion Lutheran Church where she was a member of the church choir and served in the Ladies Aid. She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and especially enjoyed being a part of Hanska’s Syttende Mai shows.

Memorials preferred to the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Southview Living Center in Gibbon or Donor’s Choice.
