Charlotte Marie (Paulson) Penkert
NEW ULM — Charlotte Marie (Paulson) Penkert, of New Ulm, MN, died peacefully August 18, 2020 at the Commons care suites in Egan, MN.
Charlotte was born in Hanska, MN to Rudolph and Sarah (Lilleodden) Paulson on April 19, 1925. She graduated from high school in Hanska and Mankato Commercial College and was employed in Minneapolis. On April 27, 1946 she married Wilbert Penkert in Hanska. They were founding members of Our Savior’s Lutheran church in New Ulm. They lived in New Ulm, Nicollet and Mankato, MN and Sioux City, Iowa. In 1993 they returned to New Ulm. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was proud of her Norwegian heritage. Spending time with family and friends was important to her.
Survivors are her son, Mark Penkert, daughters Cheryl (Doug) Geesaman and Dawn (Brad) Nielsen; 5 grandchildren, Lindsey (Matt) Brown, Amanda (Bill)Grinde, Ashley (Alex) Ross, Drew (Jenny) Nielsen and Eric Geesaman and 6 great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Lillian, Benjamin, Calvin, Peter and Sam. Also survived by sister-in-law Mary (Sheldon) Paulson and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert (Bill, Penk) on July 31, 1994, her parents, three sisters, Alpha (Wech) Fussner, Louise Wieland and Dorothy (Theide) Soldin and 2 brothers, Ray and Sheldon Paulson.
Memorials may be directed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
A graveside service will be held 11:30 am on Friday, August 21, 2020 at the New Ulm City Cemetery with Pastor Kathy Ulland-Klinker officiating. Social distancing guidelines must be practiced, and all guests in attendance will be required to wear a mask.
