Doris Ann Schroepfer

NEW ULM — Doris Ann Schroepfer, age 87 of New Ulm died peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2020, at the Divine Providence Senior Living Community in Sleepy Eye.

A private family graveside service will take place at the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery with Monsignor John Richter officiating.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Mary Kay (Glenn Gleisner) Schmiesing of New Ulm; her son, Thomas Donald (Mary Jo) Schroepfer of Sleepy Eye; her grandchildren, Kyle (Abby) Schmiesing, Jenna (Andy) Miller, Natalie Schroepfer and Nathan Schroepfer; great-grandchildren, Tucker Schmiesing, Taylor Schmiesing and Jace Miller; her brother, Leander (Kathy) Filzen of New Ulm; sister-in-law Delores Filzen of Gaylord; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin in 2005; brothers, Erwin, Elmer (Marie) Filzen; and her sister, Adeline (Donald) Zangel.

Doris Ann Filzen was born September 27, 1932, in New Ulm to Raymond and Cecelia (Kral) Filzen. She was a 1950 graduate from Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm. On June 8, 1954, Doris was united in marriage to Melvin Schroepfer at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. This union blessed the couple with a son and a daughter whom together they raised in New Ulm. Early in her career, Doris worked for Epple Drug, as well as the New Ulm Telephone Co-op before beginning her 30 plus year career with B.F. Goodrich of New Ulm. Besides her work, Doris also enjoyed Bingo, canning and lunch with her classmates. She was a dedicated member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm where she was an active member of St. Anne’s Court, the National Catholic Society of Foresters. Doris also served with the New Ulm Legion Auxiliary. Blessed be her memory.

In lieu of flowers Doris’s family prefers memorials to the donor’s choice.
