Friends and family are invited to join the family for a graveside service to be held at Riverside Cemetery in Madelia on Friday, August 7th at 11:00 am with Rev. Greg Volbrecht officiating. There will be a gathering at the family farm following the graveside service to honor Jeanne’s life.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.

E. Jeanne Benzel was born to Stanley and Louise Hemerick on March 11, 1948. Jeanne grew up in Madelia and was a graduate from Madelia High School. She was united in marriage to Larry Benzel on February 12, 1966 at Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia. Over the years, Jeanne worked in various customer service capacities in her beloved hometown, including the local cafe, hardware store and veterinary clinic. She was a very social person and loved visiting with her friends, neighbors and fellow Blackhawk sports fans. She also led an adventurous group of Girl Scouts. In her free time, she enjoyed camping, gardening, collecting cook books, learning about essential oils and keeping in touch with friends and family through Facebook.

Jeanne is survived by her children, Marc Benzel of Madelia, Lisa (Jason) Holmgren of Hammond, WI; daughter-in-law, Shannon (Brett) Ledin of Madelia; grandchildren, Riley Benzel, Josh Benzel, Kadin Benzel, Kaitlyn Holmgren, AJ Holmgren; many nieces and nephews; friends, and special 4 legged friends, Reese and Winnie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, and her parents, Stanley and Louise Hemerick.
