Gary was born Oct. 12, 1936 to Glen and Doris (Burghart) Current in New Ulm. After graduating from New Ulm Public School in 1954, he joined the Minnesota National Guard and also began work with the Brand Bus Service. On Dec. 14, 1960 he married Jerilyn Juni at the First Methodist Church of New Ulm. He began work with 3M in 1964. In 1984 they moved to Park Rapids, where he worked for L&M Fleet and was also owner of Woodstock North Gifts in Dorset.

Gary is survived by his wife, Jeri; children, Tammy (Jeff) Schugel of Highlands Ranch, CO, Collin (Michele) Current and Craig (Abby) Current, both of Park Rapids; siblings, Sharon (Wally) Schwarz of Phoenix, AZ, Bonnie Reich of Seattle, WA, Brenda (Steve) Bauman of Frisco, TX, Clifford (Linda) Current of Yantis, TX, and Calvin (Stephen Allen) Current of Tampa, FL; 9 grandchildren; two great- granddaughters; and many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother.

Services are Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 1 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Park Rapids with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
