Gerald John Reinhart

Gerald John Reinhart, 67, of Palmer, Alaska, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Gerald was born June 3, 1952 to Werner and Adelia Reinhart, in New Ulm. He was raised on a farm outside of Searles. Gerald graduated from New Ulm Cathedral High School in 1970. He joined the National Guard in 1970 and served there until 1976. On July 27, 1974 Gerald married the love of his life Dorothy Karstens, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles. In 1975, Gerald and Dorothy moved to Palmer, Alaska.

Gerry owned and operated Reinhart Construction in his early years in Alaska. He then worked several years as a heavy equipment operator until he retired from local 302 in 2015. Gerry belonged to Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Palmer, Alaska. Gerry was a very detailed woodworker. He made chalices for the church, clocks, furniture, and many other specialized pieces. Gerry loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed outdoor activities. His favorite person to do these activities with was Tom Domeier. Gerry and Tom mined gold in Chicken, Alaska from 1987 to 1988. The Reinhart family was extremely blessed to have Gerry as a husband, father, and family member. He was also a friend to many. “We are at peace knowing he is at rest with Jesus.” The family will cherish the wisdom and memories that will live forever in their hearts until they are brought together again.

Gerald is survived by his wife Dorothy of Palmer; his children: Michael (Melissa) Reinhart of Wasilla and Jennifer (Donnie) Blackmore of Wasilla; brother Eugene (Rita) Reinhart; sister Patricia (Jim) Wellman of Minnesota; his grandchildren, Riley, Robbie, Trinity and Treyton; great-grandchildren Bowen and Hudson Reinhart; brother-in-Law Jerry Karstens. Numerous nieces and nephews and families include Brenda Reinhart; Paul (Bridget) Reinhart, Judy (Jason) Gehrke; Jim (Ruth) Wellman; Jeffrey Wellman; all of Minnesota.
