Richard “Dick” Kosak

Richard “Dick” Kosak, 95 of Mankato, died Nov. 21, 2019 at Sleepy Eye Care Center in Sleepy Eye.  

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 25 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr. as well as one hour prior to the church service.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato at a later date. The family prefers memorials be given to the School Sisters of Notre Dame or Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life.

Dick was born June 26, 1924 to Louis and Elizabeth (Chucker) Kosak in Fairfax, Minnesota. On May 7, 1949, he married the love of his life, Arlene Mae Menk. Together they raised seven children. Dick enjoyed the work he did at various Mankato theaters specializing in custodial, maintenance, and projection operations.  He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

For Dick, faith along with family were most valued in his life.  He enjoyed all things outdoors, mostly fishing, growing flowers, and relaxing at his cabin. He also enjoyed cheering on the Twins and Vikings. He valued his visits to the School Sisters of Notre Dame, and speaking about his pro-life views to everyone. He enjoyed his frequent Jackpot Junction trips.  He spent many hours visiting church and socializing at many church events. Dick will be greatly missed by many.

Dick is survived by his children, Patricia (Ed) Joesting, Tom (Sarah) Kosak, Brenda (Pat) Kroenke, Mike (Patty) Kosak, John (Donna) Kosak, Jeff (Christine) Kosak, and Lisa (Chris) Sandeen; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Aggie Ferrier, Dorothy Poleski, and Eloy “Butch” Kosak; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene in 2008; and siblings, Louie Kosak and Margaret Schwartz.
