Gerald A. Weiss

SLEEPY EYE — Gerald A. Weiss age 81, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on November 5, 2019, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 3 to 6 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye and will continue on Monday from 8:30 until 10 am at the church.

Funeral Service will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Monday, November 11, 2019 at 10:30 am.

The clergy will be Msgr. John Richter.

Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Military honors by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard.

Reception to be held in the church social room following the burial.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Gerald Albert Weiss, age 81, of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota passed away peacefully on November 5, 2019, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota.

Gerald was born on September 11, 1938 to Roman and Cleopha (Lang) Weiss in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. He attended St. Mary’s School in Sleepy Eye. Gerald served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. Gerald was honorably discharged from the army. He married Marjorie Lux on January 5, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Gerald spent his working years as a carpenter and contractor. He was very proud of building and remodeling many homes including a log home and a round roof barn. Gerald was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of St. Mary’s Choir. He was also a member of Jaycees and Let’s Go Fishing. He served as the President of the Hockey Board. Gerald enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved watching his grandchildren’s events.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Marge, children, Susan Kruger of Lake City, Mike Weiss of Sleepy Eye, grandchildren, Mitchell Kruger, Mathew Kruger, Tanner (Rachel)Weiss, Lexie Weiss, Dani Weiss, siblings, Alice (Bill) Rothford of Sauk Center, Carol (Tom) Vogel of Monticello and Robert (Rita) Weiss of Sleepy Eye, brothers-in-law Nick (Irene) Lux, Cliff (Joan) Lux, Ken (Annette) Lux of Sleepy Eye, sisters-in law, Luella “Corky” (Jim) Ries of Jackson, MN, Mary (Mike) DuBois of Elk River, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Cleopha Weiss.
